I have bought a rather nice writing slope on ebay, however the lock doesn't work at all. Its quite easy to remove though and in fact I suspect that its not the original one anyway. I've hunted around but the only supplier of replacements I could find is in america and the p and p is huge.

Does anyone know of a UK supplier of writing slope (wooden box) locks please? Either new or old but they must work and come with a key.

yes find it very hard to get going when the weather is so grey.
Good day all. Sunny and a tad chilly. 12°
Have done everything a bit early so am having a quick coffee before meeting my lady friends for another coffee.
Hope you are all OK.
Where's jude?
a bit blustery but mild down here... If those up round Derby can hear thunder, it's not Storm Henry, it's just my stomach rumbling... I don't know what's set that off; maybe I can blame global warming.
Really lovely and sunny here, people already on the beach!
I've had cleaned the house and made a fish pie.
Feel better with the occasional click and twinge!
Cleaned the bathroom and washed all towels etc. Then I did the ironing, I know I should have left it but what to change the bed tomorrow and simply cannot put on a crumpled duvet cover or pillow cases. Sort hats now out of the way. I kept listening in case Mr N came home but he didn't, the cat did.
I doubt there's anybody on the beach here and if they are, they should have more sense in this weather.
It's awful ,howling, storming wind enough to drive anyone demented.I'm sure your stomach isn't rumbling as loud as this lot Jno!
Hope you're all ok though.

have been out shopping and had a good old potter round the house, black and windy here.
Morning...well we're halfway there/past it.
Wild, wild wind but dry and intermittently bright and it dried the washing in no time. It's the first day in about a fortnight I haven't had a blinding sinus headache, just the occasional throb.

Good Vera last night and I sussed the killer straight away, just didn't know why. I watch too much tele. I haven't watched Midwife yet, I was going to watch it tonight but I might give The Bloody Queens a whirl.

Hope you're all ok or improving.
Question Author
Robi, he had killer’s teeth.
I settled down to watch Midwife then got an hour's whatsapp discussion with a sister of my niece-in-law and the sad state of her marriage and her husband and blah blah blah, she only has me to unload to as she really doesn't want her family to know as they warned her not to settle with this guy, so I just had to offer what little advice I could and just let her rant, but the end I had missed midwife, grrrr, so will have to download it. I'll ignore the next message for a while.
Hi biddies just heard from our jude she's not sulking cos of the footy, she's just a bit busy at the moment, she'll be back soon.

I made pies in a pie maker for tea. the pie maker is superb but I should have made my own pastry, it was very tasteless and cardboardy....only bought it because it was ready rolled.
Oh woofy you also have a pie maker! I use ready made pastry, shortcrust on the bottom and flakey on the top as it rises and cooks properly , otherwise I end up with a partially cooked top.
Question Author
the other trick is to bung loads of filling in so that the top pastry gets shoved up against the top plate. I had one years ago but it wore out and I never replaced it.
Good morning, how strange I'm thought I'd already been here.
Was foggy to start with but bright and sunny now.
Woofy last time I overfilled my fruit pies the whole machine exploded open and hot jammy juice and fruit sprayed everywhere, but I'm know what you mean. Mine Red deep filled pies and too much for me if filled with meat etc. Just love apricot, in fact this kind I'll make some for tonight.
Hope you all had a good night. In the news it says woman should be plumper after the age of 60 as its healthier , that's me sorted then although I am not actually plump I'll just not bother to lose the 3 kilos I put on over Xmas!
None of my posts make a lot of sense any more. I mean my pie maker is for deep filled pies.

Neti, none of my life makes a lot of sense any more. Hope everyone is keeping well.
Am sitting in a pavement cafe and it is so warm, shirt jeans and a gillet. Waiting for someone to come and pay me a cheque for Mr N.
Have washed bedding and it is all drying in the sun. Lovely
.......and listening to Santa claus is coming to town over the speakers! Don't ask!

sounds like its not just my life that makes no sense :)
