I have bought a rather nice writing slope on ebay, however the lock doesn't work at all. Its quite easy to remove though and in fact I suspect that its not the original one anyway. I've hunted around but the only supplier of replacements I could find is in america and the p and p is huge.

Does anyone know of a UK supplier of writing slope (wooden box) locks please? Either new or old but they must work and come with a key.

Thank you Rob. The gap in the box is there and the old lock is easy to remove. As I said, there is a specialist supplier in the US but the P and P is extreme, plus there would be the PO handling fee if it attracts VAT. I am just looking for a more affordable solution. After all, the specialist joiners you mention must get their replacement locks from somewhere!

thank you, I will give him a shout tomorrow.
Interesting web site but I bet he is expensive. I once had an antique pen with a sterling Silver band that had come apart, I was quoted £200 just to re silver solder the band. The entire pen was only worth £100 tops , I sold it with the damaged band and got £45 .

Oh I don't want him to do anything, I just want to buy a lock.

Sorry, just testing to see if I've got a voice, when you live alone you never know until the phone rings. When I had a bad throat before I lost charlie he'd just stand co cking his head from side to side as if to say 'what the heck's happened to you?' :)

Anyway it's a bright and breezy day which helps lighten the mood.
I think I'm permanently on a slope, a slippery one.
Good day. Went to lidl at 8.30 and most of the stuff had sold out!! I wanted a red tablecloth as they are as rare as hens teeth but all gone. I got a grey one and a beige on, which is 9k as they still match my lounge decor. Wh8chnis beige black, grey and red.
Got quite a few boxes of electric wax candles. Could decide if I needed small ones for large.ones so git many boxes of both.
Got 10am bus back (Mr N took me) and I had a couple of.coffees with gbf. Now cleaning and tidying . What a mess a say makes.
