fitting down lights

hello there, in my dinning room I have a pendent light fitting, I want to put in a secondary ceiling about eight inches lower and fit 240volt down lights, my question is can I to controle them with a dimmer switch, and how many lights can I fit from that switch. thank you for any replies. Ray.

Seriously, 2 days and no answer!

Add up the wattage of each bulb and that will give you the rating of dimmer switch you need. for example if you fitted 10 down lighters with 60 watt bulbs in each you would have a very bright kitchen.


Oh and you'd also need a 600watt dimmer switch at the very least :)
