Calycanthus Floridus/carolina Allspice

Does anyone have this plant? does it sucker much ,or become uncontrollable in height or width?
I have an offer from T&M to buy this but the offer ends tonight ,so is it as good as advertised..fragrance and flower wise.
Any pointers /advice welcome. Thanks

I planted one last year and it's done ok, although only had one flower on. Mine hasn't suckered and i don't think they have a reputation of being a thug.

On balance, i think they're definately worth getting, apparently, they smell of ripe apples !!!!!

Can't say I've grown it to be honest but going by what I've read about it, I'd like to give it a try.
It seems to reach to about 7 foot in all directions and grows best in a sheltered spot. Not really showy but has subtle interest and good aroma.

I think it will make a good companion to my Cephalanthus (Button ball bush)

if you like aromatic shrubs, try the katsura tree. In autumn it gives off the smell of caramelised sugar

Katsura trees (Cercidiphyllum japonicum) get huge Woofgang. The dead leaves do indeed smell of caramel, especially when walked in and the autumn colour can be good but they're only really suitable for larger public gardens and parks.

Thanks folks, on balance have decided not to get this ...my planned space is too small.I'll have to wait till I can allocate a larger area.
