Is it too early to cut the lawn? During the warm spell in December it grew quite a bit. My neighbour cut his last weekend but I have always understood that end of March is better.

I'll be cutting mine as soon a we get a dry spell - it's very long already and certainly can't wait until the end of March.

Linda - my OH cut ours last week and it seems fine. Not a gardener but grass seems to recover whatever you do to it. I remember a neighbour cut his on Christmas Eve one year! It's probably all to do with waiting until the frosts have disappeared but I guess a gardener will be along soon to explain.

Just check met office website for your local forecast to ensure no frost expected

Where I live the lawns were cut last week as the grass was really long. The men struggled with it, so I would say give it a go. The weather has been so warm, the grass probably thinks it's the end of March anyway!

I've been waiting for an opportunity to cut my grass, since about last December I think, but rain has stopped play on most days.
When I do get around to it, I think I'll be adjusting the blades to the highest setting to start with, as its about a foot long right now!

Don't go by the calendar when you're deciding when to cut your lawn. Go by the lawn! If it looks as if it needs a trim, then give it a trim! I have known people who have cut their lawn on Boxing Day, because the weather was so mild.

I cut my lawns all year at work. Just don't mow when it's wet or frosty. A nice, dry windy day is ideal.
