I lifted three dahlia plants out of the garden last autumn. I put them in dry compost over the winter. Two of them have shrivelled and look like they won't come to anything. The other one now has green shoots which are about an inch big. What is the best way to split this plant? Thanks in advance.

You could try, rehydrating them in a bucket of tepid water, for about an hour, hopeflly that'l do the trick.
