Bought a few packets of Dahlia tubers. 2 per packet for £1. its a bit early to plant them out. How would you stop them drying out. I dont want to chance adding water to the packets in case they sprout to early and maybe go mouldy.
Hi Malagabob,
I would keep them dry until its time to plant them out, sawdust or dry compost should be fine, in a dry, dark place such as a shed or garage, where they won't be subject to frost.
I think you're right to avoid watering the packets.
Good Luck ... Chip.
You could always pot them up now into a 2 litre pot and keep them on a cool, frost free window sill out of the sun. If they put out too much spindly growth, just cut it back and use the trimmings as cuttings in a jar of water
