My garden pond is covered in blanket weed, meaning that I have to clean my pond pump every week, as anyone any idea how I can get rid of it, I have tried chemicals?

Probably something to do with the weather, AOG. My mother has oxygenating plants in here’s which I believe keep it weed free.

Thanks Buenchico, but I have tried most of those, all I can put it down to is the sunny hot & dry weather.

Thanks Zac and minty.

I think plants might be the answer.
in addition to plantlife I used a kiddies fishing net to skim the surface of my pond if anything was there I didn't want !

The problem isn't on the surface, this blanket weed gathers on the sides the bottom and clings around the intake cage of the pump so cutting off the supply of water to the fountain and waterfall.
Some form of shading might help, as algae don't like shade but thrives in sun.
I think of water lilies as natures sun parasols.
Plants and a barely pillow is what my father uses in his Koi pond
indeed aog.. I had a problem with frog spawn ! hence the net !!
I used too have barley cubes in my pond. If it's the sort of weed with long fronds you can put a stick in and wind it round
