( brown onion sets )They're growing well and are green, healthy, strong and pest free, but the onions wont grow upright. They lean over and grow across the soil. So what's wrong ? thanks.
Might be worth having a read through this Zab. I try not to paste and copy in gardening and the like but there are a number of things that can go wrong......this is gardening for you. Have you put onions in this patch before? https://www.allotment-garden.org/vegetable/onions-growing/onion-pests-diseases-problems/
We don't mention onions any more. The whole lot were removed last Sunday.. all yesterday afternoon I peeled and chopped what I could salvage of them. Added a few kilos of tomato's and then made a bucketful of tomato chutney. So not a total loss !
I'm no expert, but I remember a champion onion grower's onion plot was completely overgrown with chickweed, so you couldn't actually see them. He said it sheltered the prize onions and kept in the moisture. Perhaps it stopped them leaning over?
The poor don't fund the Labour party and they have no MPs. The unions have always funded them and provided their MPs. The unions are losing the battle. We need another party to make our Parliamentary system work. Let's form the Answerbank Party to speak truth to the masses....
