how long ?

How long does it take for a new lawn that has been rotavated and re-seeded to sprout ? Has been a week now and am getting impatient - have been watering it night and morning.
Also whe should it get its first cut ? and any othere does and don'ts ?

You should see it coming up very soon, don't give it its first cut until it is looking strong and healthy I expect it will be about 3" long and then just take the top off, don't try cutting it down short for the first few cuts.
Hi Woodchopper, a week is'nt very long for grass seed to germinate, 2-3 weeks would be more normal at this time of the year but largely affected by the current tempreture and weather, so if you dont get any rain,keep up the watering.
When it does come through, dont be in too much of a hurry to start mowing, allow the fine blades to thicken up and get established and then set the mower on a high setting, just enough to cut the very tips, the grass should soon get much thicker after this Good Luck Tbird+
