Does anyone have one of THESE or something similar? I need something light to tidy up plants & the smaller shrubs - I get a man in for the big stuff! :o) I wondered if it will only cut very soft new growth or if it would also be handy to cut down perennials that might be a bit woody?

yep, I'm surprised that woofy's never asked what all the creaking noises are & why we drag a trolley full of WD40 from home to home...then again, most of the strange noises in here seem to come from Vinny's corner.

Now what's this? soap, shower gel....and no makeup?!! Well not in my thread - I expect to see you all with full face warpaint & false eyelashes tomorrow...and that includes you Vincent van Sprout. I've slapped on the moisturiser since I was at school, those long walks on winter mornings didn't half make ya cheeks chapped & I always wear some foundation - max factor usually...the last lot I bought, although the same name, looked a lot lighter (but wearable, I just look 3 parts jaded instead of half) so I complained & they sent my money back. Result. :o)
I'll try the Aldi slop when I can get some though.
thanks for all the words of wisdom folks....I'll stick to the alcohol rub and using it as an excuse to make DH do all the heavy lifting then...I did try WD40 but it makes the champers go flat.
Kit I am 54 and have been doing menopause since 44 its not incapacitating but so and so (can't put what i think, the asteriskometer will get me) inconvenient. The most interesting bit was the dizzy spells when they started, the sensation was like falling backwards...okay when seated or standing, slightly strange lying down..the few I experienced lying prone were really weird, it felt like falling backwards upwards...its a pity i am not an artist, the images would have been amazing.
The funeral sounds great Vinny, that's the kind of sendoff I want, a huge pis salladiere up with a New Orleans Jazz band down to the water then a flaming viking longship and to hell with the ozone layer!
I never have worn makeup but do like Liz Earle stuff, it smells wonderful and no animal testing. The cheapest place to get it is ebay, she has a shop on there for stuff with misprinted labels etc....that Aldi stuff sounds interesting tho, must check it out.
Have just finished dinner, ehglish asparagus fried in butter, loads of sea salt and a hunk of bread then strawberries and cream....arteries hold that one!
The best stuff for your creaks and groans is Pferdesalbe which I swear by .I get it from Germany but you can get it here now .

Horse Ointment ..it's not an ointment as such but a clear gel and it rubs in easily ,not greasy at all and the smell doesn't follow you down the road either !
So, are you enjoying the thread thus far today Vinny...? Better say yes or we'll make it even worse for you, you ain't seen nothing yet.

As for me I do wear make-up Robinia and perfume too - I was just talking about face cream - but the ones you're mentioning Shaney sound interesting, sinking in fast - that's what I want. We don't have Aldi here but they seem to have lots of stores in Copenhagen so maybe one day when I'm visiting my sister down south. Think I'll give the pferdesalbe a miss though, Shaney. Shaney? Oh My God!

I want that dinner Woofy.

Been studying raccoons on YouTube to help Vinny tell them apart from cats, an my conclusion is that raccoons are like foxes whereas cats are like cats.

cookie raccoon

carpet raccoon

scientific raccoon

Question Author
hahahahaha...brilliant! I love the first one with the delayed cat reaction & the carpet burglar, lol...I wonder what he did with it?
Sinking in fast? I think that's what I'll be doing, sinking into a slough of despond if this wild weather keeps up. Have we got to put up with it howling all night I wonder? It's enough to give anyone a dizzy fit. Do you ever walk along the street & suddenly veer off to one side? haha, I stare at the pavement as if I was avoiding something in case anyone's watching :o)
Damn, I can't not click that raccoon, the orange one to the left - it's as if I expect it to jump up and do something funny "maybe this time" even though I know that it's just a commercial ad!

Yep, I do that, Robinia, like I have a steering wheel on me and somebody suddenly decides to turn it very abruptly - I've almost walked into shop windows. Always to the left. It's most unpleasant when it happens but it doesn't happen every day or even every week so it's okay.

Jno should be back by now? (Or wasn't it just a week?)

escapa! There goes everyone's sleep... I've reached 21.503 but I was in some kind of trance when I did that, can't get back to it now.

Yes Yes....(:O)
bless my soul, I take a week off and everyone is dying, or trying to... so sorry for those of you who have lost friends, especially as they seem to be going far too soon.

Shaney, was this the song?

Wakey Wakey..!
menapause...does that mean a pause from men ? wellcome back jno...any idea what them lot are talking about..could never work out why the girlies shave there eyebrows off and then paint them on again.....what was wrong with the original bu66ers ey..!
anyways,I use neroli and rose oil in a cream made by an aromatheripist....great after you have a shave...and it makes yer Guided Missile lovely and smooth..just ready fer them soft targets..hahahaha...(:O)
later dudes>>>>whoosh
Morning all

Welcome back jno hope you had a good time!!

After the fire yesterday I know know what Pompeii was like, the patio is literally covered with ash and so hard to sweep up, even a couple of burns in the sunbeds, still am getting there. Must rush off, things to do, places to go!
Question Author
<what was Vinny doing at 23.30 yesterday??>

a quick good morning & welcome 'home' jno...I'm off to see the wizard...well, I'll be wearing my ruby shoes. Ok, so they're burgundy but it's near enuff & if I think they have magical powers all will be well & I won't veer off too often....whatever gets you through the day.

better go & put some clothes on, all I'm wearing is make-up....have you done yours yet?
mmm, still in the prep stage

tt

Dawgs, possums, missiles, cinderellas, ex-models, strangers... (welcome home jno! Photos ASAP please!)

Asked my sister about face creams, she says Clarins are the best but very expensive so she often buys dr hauschka's rose cream instead. I've used that one too on and off, as I say I don't get along with creams but that one has the loveliest loveliest scent. I see they've concocted a Dr.Hauschka Rose Day Cream Light as well, might give that one a try just for the joy of the lovely fresh scent.

when was this reunion? (I mean I can see when the clip was posted, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything much.)
Hello Sunshines
What a glorious day here ..absolutely wonderful ...just the right temperature for moi and a slight breeze .i have made the most of it as it is probably the one and only day in the year where I have had the ideal weather :)
Welcome home Jno i hope you had a lovely time and am looking forward to some ossuarial piccies !
Yes that is the song and I should have looked at Kit's link properly in the first place ...
Sheesh I got some funny looks in Iceland this morning
Well ..you did say full slap Robinia
Anyway here is my nook at Shaneytowers where I have spent most of the day contemplating the meaning of life and reading about Newgate Prison ....

I love Upstairs Downstairs kit ..I've got the complete set on DVD ..sad really but I love those old series
I've got Poldark and I Claudius,The Forsyte Saga and several others . Have you ever seen Brideshead Revisited ?
Haha. I've just watched those raccoons ..Brilliant ..
Can you have a raccoon as a pet ? They must be fascinating to have .They are sooo comical ..
Anyway I am orf to my bed ..all this lounging around is very tiring and I have to be up early to get my false eye lashes into posiition and slap on some Panstick and spray myself liberally with Soir de Paris or else I shall have Robinia giving me a lecture about my slack ( or should that be slap ) behaviour....what happened to Desert Flower body lotion ?
<kit tip toes into the biddy dorm... goodness they wrote the book on snoring...>

What a fine little place in the sun, Shaney, very inviting, I like "pot gardens" very much <but how the hell does she get up from that chair> Yeah I really loved Upstairs Downstairs too, the episodes were always too short for me. I'll never forget the one where Lady Bellamy was going on a trip and in the final seconds of that episode we understand (by seeing the actual tickets, if memory serves?) that it's the Titanic she'll be going on... I was young - excitable - but that made my hair stand on end. And Ruby, and Hudson, and Sarah, and Rose, and Edward suffering from shell shock... I could probably watch the reruns forever if there were any... Haven't seen or read Brideshead Revisited but I read Waugh's The Loved One as a teenager and thought it was very funny. It was one of the inspirations for Tom Paxton when he wrote his song Forest Lawn, also about the commerce that surrounds death in general and funerals in specific: "Rock of ages cleft for me/For a slightly higher fee..."

<tip toes off again... mustn't set any misguided missiles off must we... and... above all... mustn't wake jno>

Question Author
good morning...anyone got a spare pair of legs?
oh, those'll do nicely
It wasn't as warm as Norfolk seems to have been but it was an ok day for being ite & abite...not bad today, I think I'll mostly be lolling.

Had to take a peek at the Wooly webcam aka the VinFibDetector...does anyone else find it fascinating to watch....ok, spy on people?....come on, I can't be the only nosy old crow. I even saw some cheeky buffer wee up the side of Vin's van...
did you know about his new sideline?

That's a lovely chilling space you've got there shaney ( btw, go a bit easier on the eyeliner, that looks is so last season). It's funny that, even with my big garden, I love things in pots. By July there's a lull in colour so they can be moved around for a bit of interest.

jno!!....wake up!! have you seen what Sweedie's calling you?....hahaha, made me splutter my yoggy that did...
Good morning everyb- ...er, good morning Robinia. I've been meaning to ask you how's Charlie, it's been a long time since you mentioned him.

I was looking at your new drawings last night Vinny, have you got yourself yet another new mouse or are you just mastering the old new one better and better by the minute - I loved Harbour Lights and Memory of Rufino. Hadn't heard of Rufino before (assuming you mean the painter.) Do you know the work of Emil Nolde? Good strong colours, like yours, some of his paintings were unforgettable whether you like them or not, like for instance this Legend, St. Mary of Egypt Death in the Desert and this self portrait which I think is very good in its own right - van Gogh influence well yes is the pope a Catholic but I don't think being influenced is a bad thing, in fact I think it's a bad thing not being influenced.

Are we all feeling intelligent today? <i'll soon take that out of'em>

just for fun

not just for fun

huh, imagine calling me Fatty the crocodile... I'll have you know there is NO resemblance, as I don't have the teeth
hehehe
