I make quite a lot of compost in my garden but how does it compare to the compost you buy from garden centres ? I know they claim to add nutrients but there is no way of verifying that .
I also see that councils sell compost which they make from recycled green waste . How good is it ?

I wouldn`t use it as people tend to put deeprooted weeds in their bins and they aren`t killed in the rotting process so you get em.
I bought some multi purpose from homebase which was too fibrous to use for anything other than mulching but usually its ok from any of the big chains or garden centres
