Good Kitchen Suppliers?

I'm looking for a complete new kitchen - new floors , ceiling, windows and quite a bit of brickwork, in other words, a lot to do.

Several potential suppliers for kitchen units get very poor reviews - Howdens for instance, and an expensive German company.

Should I settle for B&Q, or does anyone know of a reliable supplier?

Wouldn't touch B&Q with a bargepole. My own joiner recommends Howdens; says if you can't get it at Howdens then it's not made (in Dundee anyway). However, if reviews are poor.................shop around.

Friend used Wickes. said they were excellent. Right down to her coming home one morning to a large section of tiling and deciding she didn't like it. Just removed and stopped until new ones were chosen. Could not fault quality of work.
However, wherever you go it will depend on the local workmen they sub-contract to.

I thought Venator wanted a supplier, rather than fitters?

Depends on whether kitchen units or a fitted kitchen is the supply requirement.

Not much I can say to help really. Last two kitchens I had put in, one was from a local builder who was employed to replace the single storey back extension and move the bathroom upstairs and build the new kitchen where the old bathroom had been. (He'd suggested I use his discount to get the kitchen.) Was not a good job. I won't go into details but it took ages correcting errors, in particular the abominable wiring: and the under wall unit lighting that was left undone was never fitted. After that I put in one on my own in a different property. I don't recommend it. Lots of unexpected issues (particularly if you are doing it by yourself). It was an interesting experience but once is enough.

BTW if you are looking for new ceiling, windows, wall, brickwork in addition to fitting the actual kitchen interior, it sounds like a local builder with a good rep would be a necessity. Good luck with that one.

I have had a few kitchens fitted in different houses and by far the best has been IKEA outstanding in quality and price

I have a builder who will do all the basic stuff - just need a fitter / designer to install the units. I've decided to get them from Howden, as they mainly supply builders and hold everything in stock, so no delivery holdups.

Anyone know a reliable fitter / designer in the Manchester area?
