I have just had my home insurance renewal from LV. Due to a claim in July 2022 it has increased by £164.22 and will affect premiums for 5 years from the claim.

I have been on Go Compare and despite giving details of the claim I can get a quote from LV Select which is only £15.80 more than last years premium. Apparently LV and LVselect are governed by different calculations - ??? Obviously I want to pay less. Has anyone had any experience of LV Select please?

Try putting your details in with LV as a new claim, you might it cheaper than a renewal.  Mine was!!!

Try putting your details in with LV as a new claim,..

Don't you mean "as a new customer"?

Sorry yes, as a new customer 😳

I phoned my insurance company and asked why my premium had gone up by so much.  Suggest you phone LV and tell that what Go Compare says.  They may well reduce the premium as they won't want to lose a customer.

They may well reduce the premium as they won't want to lose a customer.

And in that eventuality, I trust you'll tell them to go forth and multiply. Having tried unsuccessfully to turn you over, the last thing you should do is give them your business after you've made the effort to get alternative quotes.
