Pruning Shrubs
799 Answers
Have any of you lovely gardeners hard pruned, into old thick wood, any of the following shrubs and had them live to see another year?!! I read all the books but there's so much conflicting advice when it comes to renovation pruning.
Olearia haastii (Daisy bush)
Lonicera fragrantissima (winter honeysuckle - think this one will be ok)
Cotinus (smoke Bush).

Lovely here . Brilliant sunshine .Got curtains dry ,whipped over windows ,bunged 'em back up and plonked myself in the garden with me book .
God knows what to have to eat .It may involve a tin of corned beef and yesterdays cold spuds and greens fried up .
This is my ideal weather and I wish it would never end .But it will ..we need the rain .

Blinkin'eck! I've just logged in and read your last posts.God help yous all with your unmentionable thingies in unmentionable places. The nearest I got was a boil at the top of my leg. Not very nice but I imagin not as bad as what you have had.
Had a good day today. Went to Tai Chi then lunch (chicken Chasseur, chips and salad) and afterwards to town to book an eye test and look for blender in TJ Hughes. I found a cheap one £9 for the time being. It's a Haden hand held one.
Then I went to Boots and bought 3 get the cheapest free Rimmel makeup things. I'm a cheapo when it comes to makeup. Saved £4. Then M & S and bought some pumps sage green with white laces, you know the sort of thing, don't yer! They were only £15 and better than the blue ones I bought from Primark the other day for £2.50. I've got a feeling they wont last very long. When I got home I rang the place where I got my proper blender from and they can send my just the motor base so I don';t have to have all the fittings and extras to go with it. So the cheque will be in the post for it tomorrow.
The weather has now turned very dull after a lovely sunny day. Still I got my washing dry and put away before it changed. Think it's not going to brighten up tomorrow either.
Hope you've all had good day. I'm going to close down for the night now feel a bit weary even though I didn't get my garden finished . Will have to be tomorrow now.
Have a good night Everybiddy. See yer later 'gater(s)

Yes shaney that is what I had for about a year, very lumpy, pussy and painful but wouldn't heal, so when we arrived back in England in 1978 I paid privately and had it removed by Mr York Mason, Had to have drains in it, and that was just when we moved to Truro, and had to visit their hospital every day to have it changed and cleaned and then the district nurse came to our (then)bedsitter to dress it. Was the result of waxing the bikini line (still do it)
Men usually get it up their bottom crack lottie, and it is cut open, hair removed, then they are left lying on their fronts for a while as it heals!

morning all, or goodnight as it is here. It may be 100 degrees in Phoenix but it is perishing freezing up in the mountains and it was snowing as I drove to Taos today, and I now have an empty suitcase as I am wearing everything. I am sorry to hear of everyone's ailments... sorry, but not too surprised. I won't bother to read neti my four-volume study of teeth that fall out or my dissertation on digging out ingrowing hairs with a rusty pin (obviously a sterilised scalpel would have been better but I was in an Indian village at the time). I do hope Whispering Dan is recording ok while I am away; my record of getting things to record on Sky is not too great. Well, pip pip, I hope to go to the Kit Carson museum tomorrow (as it is predicted to rain so I'll need to be indoors).
