Me again. Ok im decorating my parents bedroom. They have chosen this really nice, slightly embosed sunshine yellow paper which is going to look great. They have 'cherry red' furniture (or so im told it is). Its not dark, its somewhere between light and dark if you know what i mean. What colour of carpet will blend into their room and help it look a bit bigger? ... Dont get me started on curtains though...

A neutral coloured carpet would probably be the best bet (beige, cream or straw sort of colour) Not only would it make the room look bigger it also 'goes' with any colour, so should they ever wish to decorate again in the future the carpet would fit in. Some people would say to avoid such colours as they tend to show dirt but with it being in a bedroom it should be OK as there isn't usually too much 'traffic'.
pjm007 is right.  With sunshine yellow and cherry red you would be better off with something neutral.
You can get very nice 'hessian' type straw coloured carpet which would probably work quite well (providing they don't have messy pets!)
Burgundy. When you spill the wine it won't stain.
I agree with pjm007... neutral carpet would be best, which would also allow you more freedome to choose bedding and curtains without it all being a clash of colour! A splash of colour could be added with a rug, which will also prevent general wear and tear from the usual foot traffic!
