What's the best type of pond liner to use? We have dug the hole so I don't think a preformed one would be suitable but I don't want to spend too much money on it. I would need enough to cover approx 2m x 2m but I don't need something that is going to last 50 years or so. Had a look online but I'm at a loss.
It you do go for a liner, get a heavy duty Butyl liner with a good guarantee on it, the best you can afford.
Don't skimp on underlay, it's surprising how sharp stones etc can work their way up!
Remember, although you only propose a 2m x 2m pool, you will need considerably more liner to allow for the sides, any contours and extra for the surround..
Thank you everyone. We managed to purchase some which wasn't too expensive and fits well. Now, do you have to leave the water in the liner for a week before stacking up the stones round the edge? Also, would it be ok to place pebbles in the bottom of the pond. OH fancies doing this to make it look prettier! We're not going to put fish in the pond but just trying to attract insects, frogs, etc.
