I'm looking to buy an electric lawn rake/scarifier but would like some advice about which type to buy. Would have to be robust as I have a fair amount of moss and three lawns. Was hand raking today, but it's too big a job and I'm kna***red. Anybody?

Yes Anne, have looked at a couple of different sites. Some "trusted" makes don't get very good feedback, hence my question.
could you hire one ? just to try it out.

Good idea Anne, might look into that. Often better to try before you buy.
yes, if you hired a heavy duty one, you may get all your lawns done in one day.
I've got something very similar to this

While I find it does a good job of my lawn, it does need emptying an awful lot.
My lawn is about 175 square meters btw.
I agree with annesquith,if you only scarify in springtime to eradicate moss etc, look into hiring one.

Thanks for that Frank. Strangely enough it's cheaper to buy the one you highlighted than to rent one for a day. Nearest hire company want £60 + VAT per day!
May I make a plea for the fruits of your labours?
Hang up the rakings in a bird feeder, they will be appreciated by the birds for lining their nests. :)
I could do that, Ferlew. It's surprising just how much does come out, all of which I just put in the compost!
all my life I have wanted one of those lawn mowers that you sit on and drive like a tractor but alas never had a garden big enough, doesn't stop me looking longingly at them in B&Q though !
