Sewing Machine Help Needed

I have a problem with my sewing machine - the upper thread tangles in the feed dogs after a couple of stitches.
So far I have stripped the machine down, cleaned it, oiled it, changed the needle (which is correctly inserted), re-threaded it, changed bobbins (the drop in bobbin is correctly inserted) and held both threads for the first couple of stitches. Nothing works. Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

Is the machine of any degree of vintage? The coggy gizmos that connect the upper thread mechanism to the bobbin can go kapput after a few decades. Potentailly fatal unless you can find a specialist repairer.

It is about 2 years old.

You have just reminded me of my theory that all electric items have a secret microchip which causes the appliance to breakdown approximately 3 months after the guarantee has expired

Could it be as simple as the tension on both levels needing readjustment? If the base tension is too tight, it can pull the top threads down and tangle into the gubbins.

They have Singer sewing machines for £79.99 in Lidl. They are being nicked as we speak.

Janome, I meant. My friend, who does lots of crafty things, has a Janome. She says it's wonderful. It was expensive though.

Sounds like a tension issue to me and I know nothing about them,,,upper to low, lower too high.. or any combination

Ive checked the tension and it is fine

Try switching it off and leaving it for five minutes. Then turn it back on again.
