Shed Roof Repair...

I have a garden shed with a pent roof, about 8' x 8'.
After noticing an area of damp on the inside of the roof, I checked the outside surface and discovered a hole, approx 4" x 4", in the felt which had been damaged by a tree branch.
I've cleaned around the damaged felt and allowed it to dry out, then covered it temporarily with a sheet of perspex.
I intend to do a patch repair to this with an odd piece of felt.

The 2nd problem, I noticed was where some of the felt strips had overlapped, some shrinkage had occurred and in so doing, ripped through some nails and dislodged others, obviously this wants fixing too.
I don't really want to put wooden battens up there, as they are likely to collect leaves etc. I'm just wondering if I can put some sort of heavy duty tape over the seams ?

I've repaired a similar problem by using a hot air stripper along the seams. You melt both seams of the felt then attack it with a wall paper seam roller. Be careful not to set the shed on fire :-)

Brush it to remove any debris or dust when it's dry just overlap the joints with adhesive flash band ... it will also do for the patch repair.

If you want to do the whole roof properly once and for all, get an EDPM shed kit.
It works out about £7.00 a metre.

The 'flash band' looks favourite for this repair, hopefully it will have stopped raining by the time, I get back from the DIY store.

I recovered a shed roof with butyl pond liner. Worked a treat and after 4 years is still as good as ever.
