I've been thinking of getting a small, wall mounted vacuum for the kitchen work surfaces etc.
Its main use will be for clearing up, things like bread crumbs.

I can't decide on whether I should go for corded or cordless, so any ideas on this may be helpful.

TIA.

What's wrong with a wet J cloth?
Chip - I've had two cordless ones that needed charging. They lasted all of five minutes before they gave up the ghost. I have resorted to wet jaycloth.
Forgive me for saying but I can`t help thinking that it will be one of those gadgets that ends up at the back of a cupboard.
Got to be cordless though, if you go down that route.

Just use your vacuum with attachments if you don't want to wipe with a cloth.
We use our Dyson cordless V6. Cracking little machine. Then antibac wipe every weekend.

Thanks all, that's given me some food for thought.

Psybbo, I've seen about 8 different models, under that brand, can you say which one that you have, please.
We have a Vax Gator cordless. We bought it a year or so ago to replace an Electrolux whose battery had gone. The Vax is superb for crumbs etc and things you wouldn't use a J cloth for such as broken glass. As Hopkirk says, if you're going to get one, get cordless otherwise it's more fiddly and you have to stow the cable somewhere. Our Vax lasts ages on a charge but be aware that they are only designed for picking up mess, so don't expect the performance of a big mains vacuum.
I've got a cordless Russell Hobbs. Goes ages between charges.brilliant.
We have a Dyson Animal cordless, mainly for clearing up after the cat. We've had it for a few years and it is still excellent. It may be a bit big for your purposes, but it's a really useful vacuum cleaner to have around at a moment's notice.
