Small Burrowing Bees

Have what seems to be a small colony of burrowing bees that are living in a planter in my garden for the last couple of days, what are they? Should I leave them alone or try to get rid of them? I don't really want to harm bees any suggestions welcome.

the only experience I have of small black and yellow things burrowing were wasps. (ugh)
Phone local council and ask them to pop out to have a look?

Ha! With 250 species, you might get a few different answers.

Leave them alone, there are a few varieties of bees that do this, generally they wont cause a problem if left alone.

Thanks everybody, they do seem to be ground nesting bees, they aren't agressive, I'll leave them alone.

I'm in the leave them bee camp, they more good than harm and many species are in decline of late.

We had some bees meeting in a lot in our garden. Sadly, we had a lot of rain and the pot filled with water, presumably drowning the bees. Perhaps you could protect your bees somehow?

Just leave them alone and let nature take its course. The bees will not harm you.
