Sensitive Teeth

My teeth have become gradually incredibly sensitive to even the most gentle touch or pressure. I have had health problems for a long time and have been on prescriptions meds which may have weakened my tooth enamel. My teeth have some fillings but are generally otherwise strong although quite yellow tinged. I have tried most of the sensitive toothpastes on the market and find only a couple of them to be any help at all. Sensodyne pronamel or repair and protect and the oral b pro expert type seem to be the best of the bunch and help a little but don't completely solve the problem. I have asked my dentist and hygienist a few times and they tell me just to persevere with the sensodyne. I have read about remineralising toothpastes and wonder if any are especially helpful or better than others? I don't know why my dentist has never suggested any prescription toothpastes as some seem to do this. What would other sufferers recommend to try next please?

Poor you, Linda. My dentist advised rubbing pure Sensodyne straight from tube on teeth and gums.

Would a teething gel be more effective? I would have thought if enamel can be improved, it would be by tablet form rather than rubbing anything on it.

Pixie, as far as I understand, once the enamel wears away there isn't anything that will bring it back.

Colgate has a new sensitive toothpaste (extra or whitening) which I've just started using. It's really working for me on hot/cold/sweet problems.

That's miserable for you.. My dentist prescribes a special toothpaste for me as I occasionally have sensitivity. I'll find the name for you in a minute....
