I rarely do a proper Sunday lunch but today I did, of a sort.
We had M&S ham hock with apple and cranberries, beer battered onion rings a la sainsburys, roasties thanks to good old aunt Bessie, and peas. Followed by melt in the middle chocolate puds with plain yogurt, all washed down by our favourite fizz and followed by a fairly small home made margarita. We had a few things to celebrate which have made us very cheerful, so it was worth making a bit of an effort today :)
What about you, any nice grub on your plate today?

Today he is having roast chicken and roast ham, cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes, not sure what I’m having yet.
We are having a roast gammon joint with a honey glaze. Roast potatoes, roast parsnips yorkies and carrots. My husband will have some ice cream, no pud for me.
Stewed steak cooked long and slow in my slow cooker, with carrots, onions, parsnips, and lovely thick gravy served with a big jacket potato. Later tonight I will nibble on fresh fruit.
Next week we are having some dear friends for Sunday lunch so am currently in planning stage of the menu

Your meals all sound very hearty, just right for a cold winters day.
I too will be having fresh fruit later, maybe a bowl of homemade butternut squash soup first depending how full I still feel.
Do you have a rough idea yet Rosie, of what to serve your guests?
No guests in mind at the mo eth - I'm housebound until the snow goes - daren't risk it.

Sorry Rosie29, I always think of rockrose as Rosie and was actually replying to her.
I know what you mean about staying in till the snow goes, I’m exactly the same. I’m terrified of slipping over and breaking something.
Thinking of a haggis stack to begin with with a choice of whisky cream or red currant sauce, main will definitely be roast beef and Yorkshire puddings but not sure what the veggies will be and for pud I’m thinking of Malteser mousse cake with cheese and biscuits to finish off.

I saw some haggis in Costco and meant to get one but forgot. Must add it to the list for next time, I do like haggis, and those two sauces you’re going to serve sound a perfect match.
I’m doing a ‘sort of’ stroganoff, tweaked to what I picked up in Waitrose and what I have, as a BTW, does no-one sell dried tagliatelle any more, had to buy fresh and freeze the rest (their are only two of us)
Yes I will manage a slice of beef with half a Yorkshire and perhaps a teaspoon on veg
Sainsburys sell dried tagliatelle.
Rr, may I ask what a haggis stack is? Sounds interesting...especially with a whisky cream sauce.
I'd have that and the cheese and biscuits. All of your meal would be way too much food for me.

Pasta nothing exotic just haggis neeps and tatties on top of each other in a ring the ring is lifted off just before serving so you have the layers
Tbh I will be cooking for 6 strapping men half of them play rugby so it needs to be a spread

In my younger days I would have offered to be your sous chef, Rockrose (or even KP) ;)

eth, I roasted a chicken today, it had never been so well told off! Did as many root veg as I could find plus leeks and sprouts with homemade stuffing and a decent gravy.

My dinner was followed by a 2 hour nap. I am still full now but it was delicious.
Sorry eth, I meant to say it is lovely to read you had matters to be cheerful about - makes a pleasant change doesn't it? Well done.
