Mystery tree

I thought this tree was a Davidia, but after looking it up the leaves are all wrong, they should be serrated. Does anyone know what is ? Thank you.

Looks like Paulonia or catalpa...do you have anymore details such as flowers etc.

Davidia is the handkercheif tree and will have white "bracts".....false leaves in may.

I know it's a bit unfair showing just a few leaves rather than the whole tree andy, but I think you may be right with Catalpa. The photo was taken in September when I spotted it on a country walk so I can't tell you what the flowers would have been like. It was the enormous leaves that grabbed my attention.

Yes Cetti it looks very much like a catalpa to me too. It's a beautiful tree.

It is isn't it Robinia? I have never heard of this tree before - it was only about 8 or 9 feet but looked amazing.

you can also get a golden version which is pretty amazing, catalpa bignoides aurea

It looks to me, like an Indian (us) bean tree, one of about 4 varieties, in my view it looks like the western catalpa (Catalpa speciosa) If you visit the tree between autumn and spring you should hopefully see the long "bean" pods (8-20")
