IVe never done it before, do I have to do anything else after the ad is placed?

You don't advertise on EBay you sell products. Have you put an item on for auction or a set price? If you have put it on by auction you can see how the bidding is going by going onto your account. When something sells you will receive an email from Ebay informing you of this. You then have to pack it up and send it to the buyer. Ebay will pay you through the bank account...

Ebay will pay you through the bank account you registered with, deducting their 10% fee.
