The flap on the housing for the wash tablet often doesn't open on the wash cycle, and hense doesnt wash the dishes properly. Anyone got any experience who could advice how to fix/or how easy it is to fix?

I know this won't solve your repair problem but actually we never use the ffapped container for our dishwasher tablet. Having once watched somebody just throw a tablet into the cutlery container and set the dishwasher to "GO" I asked if it actually washed the dishes OK bythat method. He assured me that it does and he's right so now we always use that method ourselves.
i to had a sticking door and now just throw the tablet in it works fine

just chuck it in the washer, forget the flap like the other posts say.

also coz the tablets have a rinse aid in, them try turning your rinse aid to it's lowest setting and hopefully the washing will still come out water mark free.mine does.

Also there's now actualy tablets with disolvable wrapping that are designed for just chucking in the bottom of the machine. The instructions say make sure you skip the pre-wash bit and go straight to the wash bit.
