We have a gas boiler located in a base unit cupboard. I have been told that it shouldn't be there (it does have an outside vent). Can anyone tell me what it could cost to have the boiler moved up onto the wall above the cupboard (a rough estimate would do), thanks.
it is probably what is classed as Not to Current Standards, basically this means that it is perfectly safe but if a new boiler were to be installed it would need to be in a different place. as of 1st april 2005 all new boilers must meet an efficiency of 90% or more so therefore must be condensing.
What make of boiler is it that you have? I can check to see what ventilation requirements etc.. should be
It was a builder who told us that it shouldn't be in the cupboard. It's a Baxi (not sure what model!) We do have it serviced by BG every year and they haven't said that it's in the wrong place though! I would like it moved anyway because it is just taking up cupboard space and as the kitchen is really small we need to be able to use the space.
It's not just a case of moving the boiler from the floor and placing it on the wall. The boiler you have is designed to be floor standing and will not attach to the wall higher up, you will need to buy a wall mounted boiler and i'd say a fair price would be around 2000 to reposition it where you want (within reason). This should also include a full system powerflush which is needed to benchmark the boiler.
