We recently bought a 3 bed house which needs rewiring.it was built in 1930's and has the old meter system.we have had a few quotes but all seem to be very different.does anyone know roughly what we should be looking at pricewise?dont know if you need any more info just let me know if you do!
Hi Depends wether the wires are being chased into the walls, how many sockets, lights etc, do you want the making good done,?
If I was doing an average 1930s I would say approx 2000.00, for rewiring and all making good, might be a bit dearer in the South of England, I am in North Wales, Ray
Between 1600 and 2000. make sure you get a price for the job and not day work, they will hang it out to get more money. Make sure the person who is doing the work is fully qualified.
In London at the moment i'd expect to pay around 2000-2500. You can reduce this price by chasing out walls etc yourself and making good. Also lifting and replacing floorboards.
We live in north west and we have been quoted 3000!there are only 2 plug sockets in each bedroom upstairs and 1 light switch.downstairs there are 2 plugs and 2 switches in living room and the usual for a kitchen.Apparently we got told because its red brick it takes a lot of work to get through it before you start?we better carry on getting the qoutes!!!
That sounds dear to me, the tools and equipment we have now makes the work a lot easier, however hard the job is there is no more than 2 weeks work involved and that is taking it easy, and no more than 1000.00 in materials, using good quality fittings, don't pay it, ask friends etc if they can reccomend someone, good luck, Ray
