Painting New Plaster

I have had a room plastered/skimmed - which is now dry, and I am ready to commence painting the room white. Do I just apply several coats of white emulsion? Or does the first coat on the new plaster have to be a "speical coat" (i.e. watered down undercoat, special primer, sealant...) before I apply a couple of coats of standard white emulsion? All advice appreciated.

First ensure that the plaster has dried fully.

Then apply a sealer coat 4parts emulsion to one water ,One coat should be ok but give it 2 if you like .Then emulsion as usual

i am not an expert but am sure you need a primer on new plaster probably best to ask at a diy store as they should be able to advise you

Your best advice would come from whoever did the plastering since they know what materials they used.

first coat mix of water and pva glue stops thhe plaster soaking up your paint and leaving a patchy finish
