Sorry, jondavid, but what you say doesn't make complete sense. You imply at first that planning permission had been granted to the development next door, before you bought your house. If this was the case, then there seems to be very little you can do about it now. But then, later, you imply that planning permission has only just been applied for; which would mean that you could object to the local Council. Presumably, the grounds of your objection would be that the proposed development is too big and too close to your house.
