Power Washer

i connect the garden hose to the power washer then to the tap. when i turn on the tap, it switches on and sounds normal but the water comes out of the actual washer itself instead of the hose that comes from the washer ? can this be fixed ? hope this makes sense. thank you.

We had something like this and my 'handy' brother in law fixed it. He said the rubber O rings ( like washers sort of)
had needed replacing. The cost of the bits were pence but if we'd had to pay labour ... might have been a dear job.

thank you so much for your reply. i will take a closer look to see if thats whats wrong. my paths so desperately need cleaning and the thought of going down on hands and knees just doesnt bare thinking about. i will let you know how it goes. thanks again.
