For a while we have sometimes had to flush our toilet twice, we put this down to a problem with water pressure and vowed to get it sorted when we have a new bathroom suite fitted. I've opened the cistern today to put a toilet block in and discovered the water level was lower than it should be. The toilet handle seemed quite loose so I tightened it but if anything the water level seems to have dropped a little further when I flushed it. I would appreciate any advice please. Thankyou
You need to alter the position of the ball-**** (or whatever its politically correct name is). Assuming you have the old-style cistern - there is a big plastic ball that determines the level of the water - this can be adjusted so that it can float higher before it stops the flow of water, via a screw adjustment, located where the arm of the ball is attached to the main body.
On another note originalang. if you have a new push buton flush it is not advisable to out a toilet block in the system as it can clog up the mechanism over time. Best to use a hooked over the pan type.
Sorry for my delay in acknowledging your replies, this the first chance I've had. Thank you both so much for your help, Gizmonster Ill have a go at adjusting the screw, see if i cant fix things before hubby comes home next! wineoh, I have the old style flush but I'm grateful for your advice too for when we fit a new suite, I wouldn't have known otherwise.
