We are downsizing, and soon moving to a house with a garage.. the first time we'll have had a garage for almost 40 years! Unfortunately, while most of the house space is fine for two of us, the kitchen is tiny and we are going to have to store our large fridge and freezer, plus my husband's wine collection, in the garage. It has an up-and-over door, and looks solid enough, but I am wondering if anyone has suggestions, or knows of a gadget for making the door burglar proof by fitting some kind of security on the inside? All help gratefully received.
Pairs of additional locks known as 'Pacri bolts' are very effective, though other brands are available.
The 'Defender' style are okay but not suitable for all garages and leave a trip hazard even when open.
Adding the garage to your alarm system is a good move too.
Standard locks for UO/canopy doors are not that great.
We are doing exactly the same thing. Haven't had the job done yet so can't recommend these guys as such, but we are getting them to fit a made to measure security door ,so worth a look
