I bought a potted bay at the weekend which looks green and vibrant. The one I bought last year looks pale in comparison. Should I feed the older bay and if so, is there a particular feed which I should use? Any suggestions would be welcome. Many thanks.
Most potted plants particularly the larger ones need potting when you first get them. So probabbly the one you got last year really needs moving .Another point could be that until recently your latest acquisition has been in nurtured captivity whilst the older one one has been out in the wide wild world but is probably as healthy. If I feed any plants I tend to use Tomato food or Phostrogen as they contain all that a plant would need.
Thank you very much for your advise. I shall now go and get it out of its pot and plant it in the garden to give it a chance, and then put the tomato feed on it to give it a boost. Cheers!
Lucienne before you rush out to do the business get some bonemeal(or hoof and horn which is usually coarser and slower acting) to scatter in your planting hole as this gives whatever your planting a good medium term start.
Many thanks for the additional info. I've got some bonemeal, so will kick start these bays. I do use bay in cooking, so hopefully they'll not get too high!
