I have just got a new house. I want to use a side door for easier access but cant find the original key to that lock. Can I have a new key made up without the original?

Thanks

It would probably be better to replace the lock if it's a mortice lock.( not difficult..take the old lock with you to make sure you get right size) If its a yale type take the barrel out. My thoughts are if you don't have the key does someone else? Better safe than sorry. My MIL's estate agents found a "spare" set of keys 4 weeks after she moved in ( we didn't tell her)

Thank you!! I found out today that there is a spare! Hurah! But thank you for your wise advise, I know for next time if my next house dosnt have a spare!

I think you did the wise thing not telling your mate about the spare key, that was found a month later!

Thanks
So pleased for you. ( MIL is mother in law --a very anxious lady-- we keep a lot of things from her! :o) )
