Hello there, Now I have retired I am taking a great interest in my large and overrun garden. I am deep diging to find all the weed roots, and want to know if I can plant any veg as I go, or is it too late for this year. Thank you for any answers. xra
never too late for salads - toms/lettuce/coriander etc - just keep watered. Plant ornamental cabbages/brassicas/spinach/melons/strawberry....plant in groups for more affect.
It's not too late for a lot of root crops either. Carrots, potatoes, beets (ya'll call them beetroot no?)... Radishes only take a couple of weeks, onions will still probably produce for you. A little late for tomatoes... probalby, but if you can find already started plants you could certainly try a few...
You can definitely put runner beans & dwarf beans in. You could also put in a late crop of peas in (kelvedon wonder)
I' m just about to plant in my allotment some leeks & perpetual spinach where my early spuds were.
