I wouldn't recommend sealant remover as it is quite expensive and isn't that effective. Remember that you don't have to remove every last scrap of the old stuff. As long as you have most of it off little bits and pieces won't do any harm. The advice about filling the bath is spot on as is the tip about the washing up liquid although it's much easier to just lick your finger or dip it in the bath water.
It is hard work to get off but a bit of perseverance and not worrying about getting every last bit off should see you right.
