Kitchen mixer tap

I have the above unit and the spout needs the "O" rings replaced. It's not held in by a grub screw .I've lined it up with the main body but it won't come out. I,m frightened to exert too much force in case it distorts the s/steel draining top. Any ideas as to remove it please. Thanks!!

I hate the folk on AB who answer a genuine question with a question of their own because that makes it look as if the question has been answered when it actually hasn't!
Anyway, here goes: Do you have the make / model of the tap assembly? The manufacturer's website may well give you a clue as to how to replace the O rings. Are you sure that there isn't a grub screw? The one on my mixer tap spout is hidden round the back and is a pig to get at unless you have yery short screwdriver.
I'm sure that the answer isn't to exert force. If you can locate the grub screw all that will be required is a little waggling to remove the spout.

I'm afraid that I don't know the make/model.Apparently you can have a spout that's retained by a grub screw and one that isn't,as is mine. I've tried the wriggle bit with no joy and you can see the drainer flexing.What I don't need is it to distort permanently and leek under the main block.Thanks for your prompt reply!!!

I've got a tap like this - mine will only come out in 1 position - I have to turn it until it's almost touching the wall behind the sink, then it comes out - try pulling upwards while rotating from one extreme of its travel to the other.

As vagrant has already stated...swing the spout round...usually when the spout is parallel with the wall behind it..a rotating action..backwards and forwards along with a pulling action will release it.
Keep whats left of your o rings... as you will need these to help you identify the replacements.
Put a smear of vaseline on the new rings to aid fitting.

For anyone who has'nt got a really short screwdriver...the best alternative is a slotted bit that you use in a cordless drill...it can be gripped with pliers and aids removal of the grub screw...they tend not to be tight.
