I have an ericaeceous borde with azaleas rhoddies and heathers. Thos winter was very severe in Scotland and I lost a few small azaleas. I wondered about planting one or two piers shrubs there by way of a contrast but I dont know if the acidic soil would be suitable for them. Can anyone advise?Many thanks kjsgran

Yes they'll be fine but if you have very cold winds they may suffer a little. Ours here in Derbyshire are doing very well despite a long cold winter.

I'm in Sheffield, 700ft up, and mine have never looked so good.

I'm in a very exposed place on Romney Marsh in Kent - planted some about October/November last year and they've done very well - have never had my soil tested but it seems very good.
