this is not about me...

but reading some stuff online an knowing from past experience how people have set ideas about how things should be done and most totally believe that their way is normal, correct and how everyone does it ...so when someone doesn't adhere they are shocked...

so just wanted to to see your view on these -

toilet LID - not seat - to me that just gets left up...but to some its weird to not close it after use...and makes some angry

and dishes in sink - i always put them on the side of the sink as i hate it when the sink gets clogged up with dirty dishes an food and cannot be used for anything else - even sometimes you cannot even fill glass or kettle properly...to me it makes sense to put to the side untill you actually intend to wash them

what do you think?

to you what is 'normal and correct'?

Each to their own, really, joko. Regarding your examples - my lids are always up, and the dishes are always IN the sink, soaking.
Because I have a stupid cat who will drink out of toilets, lids are always closed.

Dishes get left on the side until I can be bothered to stack the dishwasher.
Erm... I'm probably the housemate you all want the least it has to be said, messy, chaotic and somehow attracts muck like flies on the proverbial... I got rice in my eyebrow recently, who else does that?! It can't just be me!

I generally try and be a thoughtful housemate and am still firends with previous house mates but they all say that I'm great to live with but that I just don't see mess. It's probably true :-/
I put the lid down because its nasty to flush with it up. That and growing up with three women put me in the habit of just putting the whole thing down. There's nothing like a blood curdling scream in the middle of the night and then trying not to laugh about what happened as you're getting yelled at.
I hate dishwater left overnight with or without dishes. Yuck. I guess I don't care where they get left at outside of that.
cowtipper - why is it nasty to flush with it up? my water just goes down the way, it doesn't splash or anything.
China - you ain't seen my furry house yet....
Hmm, not aware of that in my house, but thanks, anyway ;-)
It not going to be quite such a problem with toilet spray in this country, our toilets are quite a bit different to American ones I've seen.
Toilet seat down (due to cats) and dishes usually in as being soaked.
"our toilets are quite a bit different to American ones I've seen"
:D I've never seen a Brit toilet. Is it like a French Bombsight? I assumed the link was UK because we don't use "bin" or metrics before non-metric measures.
Here's a popular design here... http://www.argos.co.u...+sinks+and+suites+%2F
I don't believe I'm doing this....

American Toilet...

Notice the difference in the water levels, the American one is full nearly to the rim, the English one is.... well at the level we expect to see over here.
Toilet seat always has to be closed (apart from when you're using it obviously) Cowtipper is right you should always flush with the lid closed especially if like a lot of people your toilet is in the same room as you have your toothbrushes. I personally don't fancy brushing with fecal matter even if it is minty fresh. Also it's bad Feng shui to leave it up as it supposedly drains away your money.
Chris - the English link comes up with a Theft message, am I dim tonight?
To me the toilet seat is the bit You sit on and the lid is the bit You shut to make it look nice. I'd rather have dirty dishes in the sink (no water) than clean ones on the drainer because that makes the kitchen look untidy.
I could go on and on lol.
US toilets got a mandatory redesign. My dad imported one from Canada because he didn't like what they did.

i dont mean if theyre are soaking, just that thats where they are piled up...
Question Author
would you be angry if your flatmates did the opposite to how you like it?
Dishes in the sink, except cups, glasses and sharp knives. Toilet lid never goes down unless I've put bleach in. Seat is up or down....depending what's been done. Bathmat must be perpendicular to the floor tiles. Whichever CD/DVD is in the player, its cover must be left sticking out a bit in the rack (to locate it easily). Two tea towels on the go; one is just for clean things (eg wiping last of water off dishes before putting away), the other is for drying-down surfaces etc. I could go on....
