Dyeing Car Mats? Help Please

I bought some expensive mad to fir car mats for my car which turned out to be too light grey in colour!
am told that you can purchase tins of automotive dye in spray cans and I see there are some in dark grey.
Do they work and any tips?

you could just spray paint them if they are a kind of fabric - it would be waterproof too

if they are rubber, normal spraypaint wont work

i also would suggest just leaving them be, or buying new ones - if think the spray and effort would outweigh the cost
