State Pension Payments

My pension is paid to me weekly on a Monday. I have read that the day when it is paid is based on the last 4 numbers of a person's N.I. number
If that is the case I should be paid on a Tuesday!!??
Also--why are some people paid monthly? (in arrears)

no need, im not worried about it, as i said earlier just glad that i now get the pension. its stopped all the form filling in and angst about ESA.

Davebro, you missed out fortnightly. I receive mine every two weeks. Actually don't remember being given a choice when i filled in the application form.

Wonder why they do that, then Pay some 4 weekly, others fortnightly? Postcode, maybe?

perhaps its too difficult to manage everyone 4 weekly, i don't know apart from that. Perhaps Chris knows.

Don't forget it's not the State Pension anymore, it's the benefits you receive.

its the State Pension according to my December letter. and when it goes into the bank it marked as DWP SP ?

I mentioned postcode because the area i live in is often classified as deprived - that's deprived, not depraved, before anyone suggests otherwise :-) - so i wonder if the powers that be believe that everyone in my neck of the woods wouldn't manage a monthly payment. Obviously, the more affluent the clientele, the easier they would manage on monthly?

Why do we get 4 weekly state pension payments?
It was the lack of a 'monthly' option that made me go in search of the weekly option! Why did the Government choose 4-weekly payments as the default option, when everyone's bills are due monthly? Because State Pension (and many other benefits) is a weekly benefit and always has been.

I am well aware of the different days of the week on which pensions are paid.---My original query was why I get paid on Mondays (my last 2 digits are 26,) so according to the list---0-19 Monday---20-39 Tuesday==and so on.---Still curious

Complain and refuse to accept it until they send it on the right day? Am not sure what the problem is with getting it a day earlier, so long as someone else do'nt get it a day later than promised/expected

Maybe they try to balance it out so its same number of payments each day so a few at the margin get it a day early

The default payment is 4-weekly but they will change it to weekly or fortnightly if asked.

4 weekly is better than monthly in leap years!

Yes, in a leap year you would lose a whole day's pension if paid monthly.
