There's nothing paranormal about it. It is a very common and normal part of many young childrens development.

We adults and older children can escape real life by immersing ourselves in books, films , chatting to friends and so on.

Young children can't do this in a meaningful way and so have imaginery friends to share their experiences, thoughts and feelings with in a situation they can control.

If you listen to a child chattering to his or her imaginery friend you will often find that the 'friend' is in a subservient position, with the child being in charge.
I had an invisible girlfriend once, but she dumped me and ran off with my other invisible friend
apparently you should encourage children to keep up their imaginary friend as this helps them with their psychic strengths, and in later life they may be bright enough to cross to 'the other side'. its true, and i find it quite scary.
It's not "True" is it...!

Ther is a school of thought which subscribes to thee belief that young folk have a heightened sense which enables them to see ephemeral spirits - fairies, ghosts etc.

As we grow older most of us lose this ability.

The fact that you cannot see your childs imaginary friend does not necessarily mean that friend does not exist.

I had an invisible friend once. He would talk to me and tell me to do things and he would grant me magic wishes.

Then I stopped going to church...
