http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j70/AJB79/DS C01013.jpg i managed to blow my lighting fuse last night and need to replace the wire BUT i am unable to open the plastic container as i had expected... i have no experience with these things so am only assuming i should be able to crack open the container somehow (already managed to break the plastic a bit) if anyone has come across this before or can offer any advice that would be very much appreciated Thanks

Do NOT crack open the container - Pick up the phone and call a local electrician

thanks :)

i'm not actually trying to break the fuse container - simply open it ... think i might have found a tiny little screw holding it in place now (it was buried under some paint!)
if it's a fuse with wire runnig throw it , you don't open it...
you undo the two screw's [one at each end] remove the old wire...thred your new wire throw rap around the screw and do it up ,then repeat at the other end...make shore you use the right size wire

hmmm no i don't think thats going to work - no sign of a wire to replace... so if anyone can identify the plug pictured that would be great as i think i need to buy a whole new one
Going by your picture, the item protecting your lighting is a Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB)
There are NO serviceable parts inside this device. If the fault on the light circuit has been found and removed you should be able to restore power by pressing the larger (white) button. If the fault is still present the breaker will just "trip through". Obviously you will have to clear the fault first. Sometimes these mcb's just trip if one of your bulb pops. If you are any doubt at all - call an electrician.
Stop winding up people on here iggy pleaseeeeeeee
