I have recently had a new computer and keep hearing odd noises as if someone is opening a door with a rusty hinge and then slamming it. Today it sounds as if someone is shouting 'Gotcha'. Has anyone any idea what it could be? And no I am not losing my marbles, Mr M has heard it as well.

what page are you on when you hear it? I ask because on a page i g to tere is an ad at the top for smileys that makes a noise ike you are describing. I just keep the comp on mute

It's usually when I'm on Answerbank, bednobs. I wondered if it was some sort of alert to a virus attack, but nothing else is showing up. I don't know that much about computing so I don't know what a smiley is. Thanks for your reply I will try and work out how to put it on mute.

I actually found the spirit who shares our home through my computer, she frequently appears on it, and indeed told me the whole of her life story on it through the spellcheck. The whole case was thoroughly investigated by respected scientists and academics from countries all over the world, a proven case. Just to show her prowess this afternoon she added her surname after the shut down button.

Do you have Yahoo Instant Messaging? If so then thats what it is.
I have Yahoo IM and when some one leaves the system it sounds like a squeeky door opening and closing.
If some one comes on to it, it will make the noise of some one knocking on the door before it opens.

Put simply for the benefit of the very dimest of the dim, if you have eminent professors from as far afield as california, switzerland, , austria, canberra, los angeles, perth, new york, yale and harvard universities, to name but fewer than ten percent of the serious investigators who came here with all their kit to analyse what was going on here , to even begin to question their collective fand unanimous findings must put anyone in with the pure arrogance of their own utter stupidity utterly beyond belief of a sane person, sorry you are in serious need of some counselling.
