Which Language?

Hi

I'm interested in learning a foreign language, but not sure which? Italian sounds the nicest I think, but how useful is it outside of Italy? Perhaps Spanish would be more useful as a more global language? Or German? French?

Which is most useful in your experience?

Thanks!

A few suggestions, not definitive ones: if you are young and just starting a career, then French or Spanish.  If you are interested in literature/the arts, then French/Italian/German/Russian (Spanish too for that matter).  If you are interested in philosophy, German.  Law: French/Latin.
Sorry, I have just realised you posted yr q. in "Travel" so you must have meant which language was more useful for travelling?  Well, English mostly!  Then - depends where you go, but Spanish/French/Greek are good ones.
for business purposes i'd pick Chinese or Japanese. for travelling, probably Spanish.
Spanish is used in many South American countries, much of the USA as well as Spain.
How about sign language ?
Stick with English Bud.
i'd suggest Australian, American...or for something really unique try learning New Zealandish
Spanish is most widely applicable, plus with spanish you can usually muddle through the similar languages like portugese
