"24v SELV"

... how do I make it work ???

No, there's no plug.

The normal place you find 24V stuff is in lorries! (though not SELV)

You need a 24V transformer to run it, but I'm unwilling to suggest one without further details if what it is (or at least what it's power requirements are) due to possibility of overloading the transformer if it's not up to the job.

Err ... well, do you remember that a while back I bought that cooler machine for serving cold lager? And I couldn't work out what sort of gas I should buy?

Well, I've bought one of those pump things, a "font" or something, to clamp on top of my work top, and it has a light in it. I thought it would be jolly for parties. But it's got a couple of wires hanging out of it, and a tag that says "24v SELV".

I was sort of hoping I'd just be able to plug it into the kitchen socket, and it would light up, but ... apparently not!

CF is correct - don't try plugging anything into the mains unless you're sure of its purpose and voltage...

Why does it have to be so complicated? Presumably it's just a light bulb, or something.

Oh jayne, don't know a lot about 24v other than that my OH uses tools that require that voltage, and needs to use it with a transformer, which is then plugged into a normal electrical socket, but you can't just plug it in!...............

So I can get a transformer or something, and connect the wires to the transformer, and then plug that into the normal socket?

well, yes jayne I think you can get a transformer, my OH has some in the garage, but they are square yellow things, not attractive!..............about 18 inches square, may work!............you'd need to hide them! But then you'd have trailing leads!......

I bought it, and the post chap courier person delivered it today.

And ... I want to make it work.
