My son had an accident the other day and is on my insurance as an additional driver, should I inform my insurance company?

Yes I think you should, It's your insurance that he's on.
If there is going to be a claim then yes, otherwise no.
Yes you must inform them, otherwise they can void your policy.
i presume you men he has his own insurance he's using for the accident, and that he is on yours to0 to drive your car?
If he has his own insurance which is dealing with the accident,then you only need to inform them when you renew your insurance. You have not made it very clear what the exact situation is.

Sorry- yes he has his own insurance - he is only on mine so he can drive my car. He has not claimed on his insurance but the other party is.

then i think you o nly tell them at renewl. However, there;s nothing to stop you ringing them - if you didn't need to, great, no harm done. However, if you do need to, then you've done the right thing

That will be the time to take him off your insurance or face an increase in the policy I would think.
