Where To Go In Normandy/brittany?

A bit bamboozled by the various camp sites/areas available in Normandy, Brittany and a little further south, so would appreciate any personal recommendations!!

Plan to go by ferry with car and bikes for two weeks end of July/beginning of August, the main criteria for our trip will be:

- Site not too far from the coast
- Good cycling (that is flat/safe/scenic for us and 8 year old son)
- A bit of culture/history and decent restaurants within driving distance
- Not too hot - probably no more than about 25 degrees
- Budget inc ferry about 2k if poss
- Quite fancy a few days travelling and stopping elsewhere en-route to camp site and likewise on return leg

First time I holidayed in France I stayed in a little village near here:

The town and surrounding area would mostly fit your criteria. Whilst it was rather nice, obviously trips to the beach (some 8-10 miles from our village) meant English Channel, which was a tad nippy!
I now tend to holiday in the South, Languedoc-Roussillon area, better temps and Med, obviously.

One of the best quality campsites I have ever stayed on was at Souillac, and the site is now one of the Castels chain

If you get hold of a Michelin guide to camping and caravanning you get all the info you might need about the types of campsites and their facilities

I reckon the most of your 2k will go on ferry fare then lots of cash and time for enjoying France!

BTW Ile de Re is very good for cycling and beaching
